Medomak Valley boys’ soccer team returns all but one player, Isaac Durkee, from a team that went 3-9-2 a year ago. Returning coach Brian Campbell is “excited” with the turnout. “We’ve got 35 guys. We haven’t had that many in years,” Campbell said.
The Panthers’ scrimmage against Wiscasset was rained out.
They traveled to Brunswick for round robin play with 20-minute games last weekend, and went 3-1-3. The Panthers’ defense and veteran keeper Robbie Griffin gave up just two goals in seven games, 140 minutes of play, and both of those came to Class A Brunswick in a 2-0 loss.
“Saturday was the first chance we had to put it all together,” a very pleased Campbell said.
We have a huge junior class. That class is really talented,” Campbell said of the 11 juniors on the team.
Team members include seniors Robbie Griffin, Chris Morrill, Deering Genthner, Russell Wood, and Cooper Dahlberg; juniors Jonathan Hendrickson-Belloguet, Brandon Soper, Brent Barrows, Kerry Madden, Boone Olsen, Mark Sweet-Lindsay, Conor Dahlberg, Vincent Vannah, Ryan Ripley, Kazu Tibbetts, and Devon Sproul; and sophomore Clarence Porter.
Medomak’s KVAC opener is Fri., Sept. 2 at home against Leavitt at 3:30 p.m.
