Seventh seed Medomak Valley girls’ basketball team defeated 10th seed Winslow 46-30 Tuesday night in Waldoboro in an East Class B preliminary match-up. Medomak advances to the East B tournament, and will play second seed Nokomis Sat., Feb. 18 at 9:05 a.m.
Alanna Vose scored 29 points to lead the Panthers in the win. Vose broke two school records in the process, the most points in a season (412), and the most foul shots in a game (17). Vose sank 17 of 20 foul shots, including going 11 for 11 in the 4th quarter. Vose needs 14 more points to become only the second Lady Panther to ever break 1000 career points.
The Lady Panthers led the entire game, but were unable to shake the Raiders until the final quarter. Vose opened the game with two foul shots and a 3-pointer to put the Panthers up 5-0. Medomak led 13-6 at the quarter, 17-15 at the half and 27-19 at the end of three.
Vose hit a pair at the foul line and Amanda Hendrickson-Belloguet scored on a Mallory Conary pass at the beginning of the 4th quarter to give Medomak their first double digit lead of the game. The Lady Panthers were perfect at the foul line in the final period, going 15 for 15, with Vose making 11 and Taylor Simmons and Conary two each.
Scoring for Medomak were Vose 29 (6R,4S), Simmons 4 (4R,2A), Conary 4 (5R,3A), H-Belloguet 4 (3R,1S), Hannah Marks 3 (4R) and Mallory Robbins 2 (8R,2B). Scoring for Winslow were Elizabeth Ferry 8 (9R), Devin Fitzgibbons 6, Alyssa Wood 5, Erica Bertoloccini 4, Megan Richards 4 and Jordyn Pomerleau 3.
