Medomak Valley girls picked up their fifth straight win of the season, home against Lincoln Academy Friday night, 43-37. The Lady Panthers made only 14 of 30 foul shots, which allowed the Eagles to stay in the game. Lincoln made 10 of 14 foul shots, led by Laura Soohey who hit 7 of 10.
The two teams battled for the lead in the 1st quarter, before Alanna Vose hit a three-pointer late in the period to give the Lady Panthers the lead for good. Vose scored on an Erika Knutson feed, and Knutson netted two foul shots to put Medomak up 14-9 at the quarter break.
Nicole Weaver scored on a Lindsay Ranquist pass and Ranquist crashed the glass for two to extend their lead to nine in the 2nd period. Laura Soohey and Kassie Lincoln cut the lead to five, before the Panthers ended the half with a 7-3 run to lead 25-16.
Vose scored two buckets and two at the line to give Medomak their biggest lead of the ball game at 13 early in the 3rd. Soohey hit two at the line and Stephanie Oliver scored on a Lincoln feed to cut the lead to nine at the end of three, 33-24.
Anna Budrow settled two at the charity stripe with 4:35 to go in the game to cut the lead to five. Lacy Massengale hit two foul shots and Dyer one, and Vose scored on a Christensen pass to put the Panthers up by 10. Lincoln and Oliver scored to cut the lead to six with two minutes to play. The Eagles missed two lay-up attempts and had two turnovers in the final two minutes of play to seal their own fate.
Scoring for Medomak were Vose 13 (2S,3A), Dyer 13 (4S), Massengale 4 (6R,2S), Ranquist 4 (9R,2S,1B,2A), Nicole Weaver 4, Christensen 3 (6R,1S,1A,1B), and Knutson 2 (2S). Scoring for Lincoln were Laura Soohey with a career high 24 (7R,2B), Oliver 4, Lincoln 4 (2R,2A), Katherine Bolster 3 (2A), and Budrow 2 (9R,3A).
