Medomak Valley girls defeated Waterville 42-36 Friday night at home to improve their record to 6-2. The Blue and Gold Panthers fell behind early, trailing 7-4 at the quarter.
Medomak went on a 13-8 run in the 2nd frame to take a two-point lead into the halftime break. Medomak extended their lead in the 3rd, 29-24, then held on in the final period with solid foul shooting. Mallory Conary sank two of two, and Alanna Vose five of six at the charity stripe in the final frame.
Vose led Medomak with 19 points, including three three-pointers (8A,2S,2B). Conary added 9, Mallory Robbins 6, and Amanda Hendrickson-Belloguet 8 (9R). Scoring for Waterville were Ashleigh Gagne 13, Lauren Crane 12, Colleen O’Donnell 6, Janna Gagnon 3 and Shannon Ritter 2.
Leavitt jumped out to a 25-16 1st quarter lead and continued to build over the next three quarters.
Scoring for Medomak were Alanna Vose 16, Mallory Conary with a career high 11, Hannah Marks with a career high 9, and Mallory Robbins, Emily Leach, Amanda Hendrickson-Belloguet and Missy Philbrook 2 each. Scoring for the Hornets were Kristen Anderson 27, Amanda Newton 17, Sarah Frost 8, Amanda Jordan 7, Mariah Treadwell 5 and Megan Dow and Kendra Gilbert 4 each.
