Medomak Valley girls’ cross-county team won a five way meet in Belfast Sept. 10. The Lady Panthers packed five scoring runners in the top 16 to win the race with 44 points.
Winslow was second with 53, Morse 65, Belfast 72 and Erskine 110. Lincoln Academy did not have enough runners to compete as a team. Abby Hersom of Rockland won the girls’ race in 21:01.
Gwen Moiles led the Panthers with a fourth place finish in 21:54. Hot on her heals was teammate Megan Wyllie in fifth place in 22:07. Heidi Harris was 11th in 23:11, Jocelyn Thames 15th in 23:29 and Alyssa Griggs 16th in 23:33 to complete the scoring five.
Also competing for Medomak were 29. Jordan Hopkins, 25:23; 33. Abbie Vail, 25:28; 44. Shannon Staples, 26:47; 45. Maddie Bodine, 26:54; 46. Brianna Gross, 27:17; 50. Missy Philbrook, 28:12; 56. Bailey Black, 28:32; and 61. Jenny McKay, 33:46.
Lincoln Academy had three girls compete. Hannah Fake ran to a 12th place finish in 23:26, Teiga Martin 19th in 23:35 and Katrina Bell 27th in 25:07.
Nick Anderson led the Panthers with a 7th place finish in 18:54, Joe Murphy was 18th in 20 minutes flat, Brendon O’Donnell 20th in 20:05; Quinton Vannah 34th in 20:49 and Ivan Johnson 36th in 20:59 to complete the scoring five. Also competing for Medomak were 63. Alexander Casas, 23:11 and 68. Mike Gilman, 23:41.
Luca Keushguerian was the top runner for Lincoln Academy, placing 10th in 19:08. Freshman Nick Smelcer was 11th in 19:15, Alex Tomasello 27th in 20:26; Alex Hadik 33rd in 20:41; and Will Hadden 38th in 21:01 to complete the scoring five. Also running for the Eagles were 42. Tyler Ward, 21:24; 43. Kevin Sandefur, 21:29; 50. Julian Frink, 22:09; 62. Josh Richards, 23:10; 66. Tim Wells, 23:36; 69. Daniel Mayer, 23:58; and 76. Matt Poland, 26:11.
