Medomak Valley softball picked up three wins this week to improve their record to 5-0. The Lady Panthers defeated Leavitt 1-0, Gardiner 8-1 and Waterville 18-2.
K. Benner had a triple and Christensen two singles for Medomak. Hitting for Leavitt were Taylor Vupancic, A.Castonguay, Treadwell and Pomerleau a single each.
The Tigers took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on an unearned run. Medomak captured the lead for good in the bottom of the first with three runs. Vanessa Davis reached on an error and Lindsay Ranquist walked to set up a RBI single to K. Benner and a two run single to Christensen. They added a run in the fifth when Ranquist doubled and scored on a Christensen single. Medomak opened the game up with a four run sixth inning. Davis reached on an error, Mallory Conary singled, and both scored on a Ranquist triple. K. Benner scored Ranquist with a triple and scored on a Christensen sacrifice fly.
Hitting for Medomak were Christensen with a double and two singles (4 RBI), Ranquist a triple and double, K. Benner a triple and single, and Davis, Conary, Maria Ennamorati and Vose a single each. Hitting for Gardiner were Deanna Armstrong and Jenna Moore with one each.
First inning highlights include D. Benner driving in 3 runs with a single and double, Heidi Obuchon knocking in 3 runs with 2 singles and a throwing error; and Lindsay Ranquist, Alanna Vose and Kasey Benner driving in 2 runs each on singles. Davis, Obuchon, K. Benner, Mallory Conary, Vose, Jenna Tracy and D. Benner scored 2 runs each in the inning.
Hitting for Medomak were Davis with 3 singles, D. Benner a double and single, Obuchon, Ranquist and Vose 2 singles each, and K. Benner, Ericka Christensen, Conary and Tracy a single each. Hitting for Waterville were K. Gardiner 2 hits and M. Pellerin, K. Tilton, G. Gould and B. Ruegar a single each.
