The Medomak Valley Panthers defeated Winslow 51-48 to win the East B Regional boys basketball title in Bangor Saturday afternoon.
The Panthers scored the first five points of the ball game, but the Black Raiders knotted the score 9-9 at the end of one. Medomak led 25-22 at the half, led by 10 points from Micah Williamson, including two three pointers.
After three ties and six lead changes, Winslow came out on top 36-35 at the end of three. The Raiders scored the first five points of the fourth to take a six point lead. Down five with 3:22 to play, Medomak rallied for eight straight points to take a three point lead.
Cameron Allaire scored two baskets and Nicholas DePatsy and Zach Starr scored one each in the rally. Winslow pulled within one at the foul line on two shots from Colby Robertson. Allaire and Williamson sank a foul shot each to boost the Panthers lead to three with six seconds to go. Winslow’s Justin Martin’s three point attempt was blocked by Allaire in an exciting finish.
Scoring for Medomak were Williamson 18, DePatsy 16, Allaire 10, Starr 5 and Colton Spear 2. Scoring for Winslow were Martin 28, Josh Kervin 5, Justin Burgher 5, Robertson 4, Dylan Hutchinson 4 and Trenton Bouchard 2.
