Lincoln Academy girls’ swim team captured three KVAC individual titles at the championship meet on Fri., Feb. 5 at the Bath YMCA. The Lady Eagles broke five records in the meet. “They swam a super meet. They did great. I’m so proud of them,” coach Don Strout said.
Kara Mullin won the 200 individual medley in a school record time of 2:26.68 and placed 2nd in the 500 free in a new school record time of 5:54.28. Valeska Vaughn won the 100 free in 1:00.41 and took second in the 50 freestyle in a school record-breaking time of 26.71. The Lady Eagles won the 200 free relay with a LA record 1:52.43, with Olivia Deslisle, Katie Jackson, Mullin and Vaughn swimming a leg.
Lincoln broke the 200 medley relay record in 2:08.22 and placed 3rd in the event with Jackson, DeLisle, Mullin and Vaughn.
Jackson placed 4th in the 50 free in 28.58 and 5th in the 100 back in 1:18.45. DeLisle placed 4th in the 100 breaststroke in 1:21.84 and 6th in the 50 free in 29.25. The Eagles placed 7th in the 400 free relay in 5:13 with Eva Schroeer, Pheobe Arnold, Emily Whitaker and Carolyn MacDonald. MacDonald was 9th in the 100 back in 1:27.
Peter Huntington was KVAC runner-up in the 50 free in 24.44 and placed 3rd in the 100 butterfly in 1:07. Steve Severance placed 3rd in the 100 breast in 1:16 and 8th in the 100 free in 1:04. Will Hadden was 4th in the 500 free in 5:41 and 5th in the 50 free in 25.27. The Eagles placed 4th in the 200 medley relay in 2:06 with Hadden, Severance, Huntington and Wyatt Ray.
Lincoln Academy State qualifiers include Katie Jackson (50 free and 100 back), Olivia DeLisle (200free, 200 IM, 50 free, 100 butterfly and 100 breast), Valeska Vaughn (200 free, 200 IM, 50 free, 100 free, 500 free, and 100 back), Kara Mullin (200 free, 200 IM, 50 free, 100 butterfly, 100 free, 500 free, 100 back, and 100 breast, Steven Severance (100 breast), Peter Huntington (200 free, 50 free), and Will Hadden (200 free, 200 IM, 50 free, 100 butterfly, 100 free, 500 free and 100 back).
Qualifying for Wiscasset are Ryan Hanley (200 IM, 50 free, 100 back), Ross Hanley (200 free, 200 IM, 50 free, 100 butterfly, 100 free, 500 free, 100 back, 100 breast), and John McLeod (200 free, 200 IM, 50 free, 100 butterfly, 100 free, 500 free, 100 back and 100 breast).
Qualifying for Boothbay are Morgan Bredeau (200 free) and Tiffany Tsang (200 free, 200 IM, 50 free, 100 butterfly, 100 free, 100 back, 100 breast).
