Medomak Valley baseball won the battle of county rivals, defeating Lincoln Academy 7-6 at the Waldoboro Recreation Complex April 29. Starter Micah Williamson collected the win (5I,8H,1K,1B,5R), and Adam Wilcox got the save (2I,2H,3K,1B,1R).
Lincoln starter Travis Creamer took the loss, and Spencer Weiss, Baker Gove, and Devin Scherer pitched in relief.
Medomak took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning when Williamson walked, stole second, and scored on a Riley McCollett single. Lincoln knotted the score in the home half of the first when Sawyer Pinkham singled, moved over when John Henry reached on an error, and scored on a Creamer single.
Medomak retook the lead with two runs in the second on RBI singles from Williamson and Ollie Brown. They plated three runs in the third to take a 6-1 lead. Bryce Collamore hit a solo homerun to left field. Jackson Vail and Ben Turner walked and scored on a passed ball and a throwing error.
Lincoln got two runs back in the third. Pinkham singled and scored on a Scherer double. Wally Morris singled home Scherer. The Eagles pulled within one in the fourth with two runs. Pinkham reached on a fielder’s choice, Henry doubled and both came home on a Scherer double.
Medomak scored one run in the sixth to go up by two. Williamson reached on an error, moved over on a McCollett single and scored on an error put in play by Brown.
Lincoln loaded up the bases in the bottom of the seventh. Nick Morton was hit by a pitch to walk home Morris who reached on a single. The Eagles left the bases juiced, as Nicholas DePatsy called a fly ball at first for the third and final out of the game.
Hitting for Medomak were Brown a double and single, Williamson and McCollett two singles each, Collamore a homerun, and DePatsy a double. Hitting for Eagles were Pinkham three singles, Scherer two doubles, Morris two singles, Henry a double, and Creamer a single.
