Nobleboro 7th grade boys’ basketball team lost 40-27 to undefeated Thomaston in the Busline League championships Saturday in Lincolnville. The Lions collected the Southern Division trophy for a great season. Nobleboro’s final record was 10-2, with their only losses coming to the Clippers of Thomaston.
Kolt Wallace gave the Lions the early lead on a feed from Kobe Lincoln. Thomaston set the Lions back on their heels with nine straight points to take the lead for good. Wallace made it a 9-4 game at the quarter when he converted off the offensive glass. The two squads traded hoops at the beginning of the second quarter, before Thomaston took advantage of a couple of steals to score 11 straight points. Thomaston led 25-10 at the half. The Lions sharpened their claws on defense in the third, holding Thomaston to 4, but could only muster five points on the offensive end. Nobleboro out scored Thomaston in the fourth, 12-11.
Scoring for Nobleboro were Kolt Wallace 14 (25 rebounds), Kobe Lincoln 6 (4R,3A,2B,3S), Brett Cowan 5 (11R,5S), and Brady Leeman 2 (5S). Scoring for Thomaston were Eli McDougal 11 (16R,2B,4S), Eli Thorjohsnon 8, Nick Judge 7 (5R,4S), Jimmy Strong 5 (4R,6S), Josh Poore 4 (5R), Jared Leonardi 3 and Justin Robinson 2.
Nobleboro 41 – Hope 26
Nobleboro defeated Hope 41-26 on Dec. 16 in the Busline League semi-finals to earn a berth in the championship game. Scoring for the Lions were Wallace 24, Colton Spear 9, Brett Cowan 6 and Leeman 2. Hope was led by Mark Barley with 12 and Trever Fowles 10.
