Medomak Valley wrestlers competed in the Belfast Duals on Saturday. Eight participating teams are divided into two groups of four, which compete in three dual meets against each other. The best two wrestlers in each weight class then wrestle in a four man bracket for first through fourth place. JV players fill in weight classes for other teams to round out the weight classes.
Medomak lost dual matches to Mt. Blue (60-6), Bucksport (36-12) and Camden (63-10). Panther results are as follows:
Stefan Nichols (130) placed second in the unique tournament. Nichols (130) won by forfeit, beat Boris Clark (Buc) by 15-3 decision, and lost a tough 5-4 decision to Tom Cassidy (CH). Nichols picked up a win to advance to the finals, where he met up with Cassidy again, losing a hard fought match by 3-2 decision to take second place.
Todd Anderson (125) was pinned by Kevin Moore (MtB) in 2:32, by Curtis Warrren (Bel) in 5:41, and by Caleb Bragg (CH) in 42 seconds.
Cyril Miller (160) was pinned by Zack Faulkner (MtB) in 3:33, was pinned by Aaron Tyler (EA) in 1:48 and the won by pin over Mike Haskell (CH) in 1:01. He split his matches in the consolation bracket to finish sixth.
Kody Wallace (171) was pinned by Caleb Farrington (MtB) in 1:23, by Cade Ayotte (EA) in 4:55 and Anthony Batty (CH) in 37 seconds. Wallace split his matches in the consolation brackets to place seventh.
Dylan Look (215) was pinned by Joey Metcalf (MtB) in 1 minute, by Daman Klenedinst (Buc) in 1:04, and Rhett Chase (CH) in 1:12. Look split his matches in the consolation bracket to take sixth.
Gabe Delano (285) was pinned by Matt Archer (MtB) in 1:06, he defeated Tyler Davis (EA), and lost a tough 9-7 decision to Jacob Halberg (CH). Delano drew a bye in the consolation bracket then pinned his way to fifth place.
