Robbie Griffin earned his keep in the Panther net on Saturday in Medomak Valley’s 0-0 tie with Lincoln Academy.
Last season, Medomak upset the Eagles during the Panthers’ Homecoming game. While not registering a win, a tie was huge for the Panthers during their 2011 Homecoming match-up Sept. 17.
Griffin made 19 saves in the lopsided contest that saw Medomak take only six shots to the Eagles’ 31. Griffin was a one-man show, making diving saves, tipping the ball up over the cross bar and being rock solid on collisions on corner kicks.
Lincoln made several runs deep into Panther territory, but were unable to tee it up against Medomak’s defense. While the Eagles put on a passing exhibition, their skills were fruitless against Griffin and his tough Panther defenders, including Jonathan Hendrickson-Belloguet, Brent Barrows, Brandon Soper and Kazu Tibbetts.
The Eagles took six shots in overtime to the Panthers’ none.
