Medomak Valley’s baseball team rallied for five runs in the bottom of the 7th inning to come from behind to beat Lincoln Academy 8-7 in Waldoboro on May 28. The win extends the Panthers streak to four in their push for a playoff spot.
Medomak is 8-7 with one game remaining. The loss was Lincoln’s third straight. They are 10-5 with one game remaining.
Relief pitcher Taylor Williamson got the win (3 1/3I,5B,7R,7H). Chris Benedict started and went three innings (3H,2R,6K,3B) and Isaac Greenrose pitched in relief (2/3I,1B,1K).
Nat Baptist pitched 6 2/3 innings (4K,5B,7H,7R), and stayed in despite a twisted ankle off the mound in the 5th, and being hit just above the knee by a scorching ground ball hit by Steven Genthner in the 6th. Stephen Quinlan came on in relief in the 7th (2H,0K,0B,1R).
The Eagles took a 2-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning. Quinlan singled and scored on a Ben McLain double. McLain came home on a Jeff Lamb ground out.
Medomak tied the game in the 4th on a two run homerun to I. Greenrose, scoring Williamson.
Lincoln retook the lead with a two run 5th inning. Merritt Wotton reached on an error, went to third on a pickoff attempt and throwing error at first and scored on a Lamb single. Everett Martin singled in Lamb for a 4-2 Eagle lead.
The Panthers scored one in the 6th to pull within one when the Greenrose twins teamed up. Isaac reached on an error and scored when Alex reached on an error.
Lincoln plated three in the top of the 7th to take a four run lead. Brandon Reilly doubled, moved to third on a Merritt Wotton single and scored on a Lamb single. Chris Chickering reached on a fielder’s choice that saw Wotton gunned down at the plate on a throw from Williamson. Everett Martin hit a two run single to put Lincoln up 7-3.
Medomak rallied in the bottom of the 7th for the win. Dillon Reed and I. Greenrose walked and scored on a Shane Osier single. A.Greenrose hit an RBI single and scored the tying run on a John Bartlett single. Bartlett scored the winning run on a walk off single to Isaac Durkee.
Hitting for Medomak were A. Greenrose with 3 singles, I. Greenrose a homerun, and I. Durkee, Steven Genthner, S. Osier, Bartlett and John Murray a single each. Hitting for Lincoln were McLain with a double and single, Lamb and Martin 2 singles each, Reilly a double, and Quinlan, Wotton and Mardy Alden a single each.
Camden scored four runs in the top of the 1st. Lincoln got two runs back in the home half of the inning. McLain singled and scored on a Reilly sacrifice, and Wotton hit a solo homerun. They took the lead with a five run 2nd inning. Alden, Dalton Leeman and Quinlan singled to set up an RBI walk to McLain and a grand slam homerun to Reilly.
Camden scored two in the 5th to pull within one. The Windjammers took advantage of three errors, and three walks in the 6th inning to score six runs and take the lead for good.
Lincoln scored one in the sixth. McLain singled and scored on an error put in play by Lamb. Martin hit a solo homerun in the 7th.
Hitting for Lincoln were Reilly with a homerun and 2 singles, McLain and Alden 2 singles each, Martin and Wotton a homerun each, and Quinlan, Lamb, Kyle Scherer and Leeman a single each.
Hitting for Camden were Mike Crockett with a double and single, Tom Kennedy and Dufour 2 singles each, Kyle Olehnik a double and Isaac Grindle, Cameron Gartley, Adam Landwehr and Billy Denman a single each.
Medomak took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st when Steven Genthner tripled and scored when Taylor Williamson reached on an error.
Rockland plated all three of their runs in the top of the 3rd when Morrill hit a triple scoring Gustin and Campognoli. The Panthers scored one in the home half of the inning to pull within one. Genthner reached on an error, stole second and came home on a Dillon Reed double.
Genthner and Williamson singled and Reed walked in the pivotal 5th inning to load up the bases for D. Osier, who drove in two runs when he reached on an error.
Hitting for Medomak were Genthner with a triple and single, Reed a double and single, and Williamson and Isaac Greenrose a single each. Hitting for Rockland were Morrill with a triple, and Hendricks, Gustin, Nelson, Beal, and Perry with a single each.
