Medomak Valley boys’ basketball team roared to their eighth straight KVAC win in make-up action on the road Jan. 22, beating Leavitt 55-46. The Panthers trailed 15-11 at the quarter and 34-21 at the half, before rallying in second half action to win by nine. Medomak out scored the Hornets 19-7 in the third quarter, and 15-5 in the fourth quarter in their come from behind victory.
“We stepped it up and played a lot better defense. We were down 13 at the half and the next thing I knew we were up,” coach Nick DePatsy said. Second half scoring was pretty well spread out with John Murray netting 9, Kyle Durkee 8, Isaac Greenrose 7 and Alex Greenrose 6.
“Shane Osier did a really good job coming off the bench to defend Lucas Witham. He held him to just four points in the second half. Witham scored 12 points in the first half,” DePatsy added.
Scoring for Medomak were Murray 14 (10R), I. Greenrose 12 (6A), I. Durkee 8, Osier 8 (4S), and A. Greenrose 6. Scoring for Leavitt were Kyle Smith 18, Witham 16, Tyler Allen 6, Tyler Walton 3, Tim Dow 2 and Matt Janosco 1.
Medomak boys are ranked 5th in East Class B with a 9-3 record. The top 10 teams in East B qualify for post season play.
