The Medomak Valley softball team breezed to a 15-0 win over Poland on Friday, April 24 in Waldoboro. The Panthers got off to a fast start, scoring eight runs in the first inning, and cruising to the win behind the strong pitching by ace Sidney Nicholls.
Rheanne Simmons (2R, 3RBI), Jennika Schumann (2R, 2RBI), and Kendall Wyman (2R, 2RBI) hit one single and one double apiece to lead the Panthers offense. Kendall Simmons (3R, 1RBI) ripped a triple and walked twice, and Peyton Eaton (1RBI), Arianna Sproul (2RBI), Claudia Feeley (2R, 1RBI), and McKenna Hertel (1R) each hit one single as the Medomak batters piled up a total of 11 hits. Grace Havener (1R, 1RBI) and Caroline Snell (1R) each stole one base.
Nicholls allowed one hit over four innings to earn the victory in the pitching circle. Nicholls struck out eight batters and walked one in a game that was shortened to four innings due to the 15-run mercy rule.

The Panthers softball team won their season opener 15-0 over Belfast on Wednesday, April 22 in Waldoboro. Medomak’s Sidney Nicholls tossed a one-hit shutout and struck out 10 Lions in a dominant performance in the pitching circle.
The Panthers scored one run in the first inning, four in the second, six in the third, and four in the fourth to trigger the 15-run mercy rule that ended the game early with two outs in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Peyton Eaton (3R, 3RBI, 1SB) led the Panther offense with a double and two singles. Rheanne Simmons (4R, 2RBI, 2SB), Arianna Sproul (2RBI), and Grace Havener (2RBI) all hit a pair of singles, and Kendall Simmons (2R) belted a triple. Claudia Feeley (1RBI), Jennika Schumann (1R), and Kendall Wyman (2R, 1RBI, 1SB) hit a single each. Caroline Snell (2R) stole three bases and McKenna Hertel (1R) swiped one.
Belfast pitcher Jordyn Mackay gave up 15 runs (11 earned) and struck out six Panthers. At the plate, Mackay had the only hit for the Lions, which was a triple.
