Lincoln Academy sophomore, and defending state co-champion, Bailey Plourde, tied for Maine runner-up with Presque Isle senior Jenna Hallet at the 2014 Maine golf championships,
held Oct. 18 at Natanis in Vassalboro.
Ironically, Plourde also tied with Hallet for the state title in 2013. Both shot an 18 round score on Arrowhead of 75. Plourde shot two eagles, on one and three; hit
10 holes for par, and finished three over par.
Only seven boy golfers beat Plourde and Hallet, including the top three in class A, and the top two in both class B and C.
The Schoolgirl State championship (all classes) went to Thornton Academy foreign exchange student Hashilla Rivai with a 70. Rivai’s score of 70 was the best score of
the day out of all male and female golfers.
Sixty girls qualified for the state championship meet by hitting a qualifying mark of 110.
Wiscasset had two boys qualify and compete in state Class C Schoolboy tournament. Sophomore Grant Hefler tied for 15th with an 85, and his older brother Daren Wood
shot a 90.
