Four Lincoln Academy and two Medomak Valley wrestlers placed in the Westlake Invitational Tournament, held in Bath on Dec. 4. Spencer Myshral (Boothbay 112), Dalton Peaslee (LA-285) and Stefan Nicholls (MV-130) placed third. Mark Zaccadelli (LA-103), Drew Bryant (LA-189) and Gabe Delano (MV-285) placed fourth. Lincoln placed 10th and Medomak 11th in the tournament.
Results by weight division are as follows:
103: Mark Zaccadelli (LA) pinned Robbie Lee (Nok) in 58 seconds, lost to Jacob Kenny (Mt.A) in 47 seconds, then beat Kyle Bonti 13-11 by takedown in overtime to advance to the consolation finals. Zaccadelli was pinned Kayla Vigue (Win) in 56 seconds to take fourth place.
112: Spencer Myshral (BB) was pinned by John Gillar (BE) in 38 seconds, then worked his way through the consolation bracket to place third. Myshral pinned Cory Allen (Mt.A) in 29 seconds, beat Dylan Harrington by 10-7 decision, and then met up with Gillar again in the finals, pinning him in 2:54.
119: Todd Anderson (MV) lost a 15-7 decision to Luke Arnonne (Mt.A), pinned Tanna Littlefield (MCI) in 2:16, and was eliminated by Wyatt Rush (HD) by fall in 2:46.
125: Dylan York (LA) won his pigtail match over Taylor Lewis (Hy) in 2:02, then lost to Gary Stevens (Mor) in 5:05 and Zak O’Connor (Win) in 3:46. Cheyenne Augustine (MV) lost a 6-5 decision to Jonathan Crocker (Nok) and was pinned by Cody Boyd (Fr) in 4:52.
130: Stefan Nichols (MV) pinned Josh Merrick (Mt.B) in 2:38 in, lost to Jared Jensen (Br) in 51 seconds, then worked his way through the consolation bracket to take third. Nichols pinned Ryan Buzzell (Fr) in 1:49, and beat Kyle Blaisdell (MCI) 10-8 in the finals.
135: Dan Mayer (LA) lost his pigtail match to Ben Graf (Sk) by 2-1 decision.
140: Amelia Pennington (LA) won her pigtail match over Brooke Mitchell (Mor) by fall in 4:50. Pennington then lost to Kaleb Austin (Sk) in 17 seconds and Dylan Clark (Win) in 1:31.
145: Martin Shott (LA) won his pigtail match over Gavin Flagg by pin in 1:35. He then lost to Thon Ithipalakorn (Co) in 1:22 and Levi Colson (Mor) in 3:29.
152: Patrick Trayers (LA) lost his pigtail match to Chris Ingram (Mt.B) in 4:39. Tyler Olson (MV) was pinned by Chris Ingram (Mt.B) in 3:47 and Mikal Reynolds (Co) in 2:47.
160: Cyril Miller (MV) pinned Blake Hay (LA) in the pigtails in 2:23. Miller then lost to Troy Severance (BE) by fall in 1:28, and beat Elijal McNeil (Mor) by 9-1 major decision to advance to the finals. Miller lost to Kennan Scanlin (Law) in 29 seconds to take fourth place.
171: Jamie Juchnik (LA) won his pigtail match over Kyle Ward (Gar) by fall in 36 seconds, then lost to VJ Tantoco (Win) in 1:19 and Nate Hill (Fry) in 2:47. Brandon Holloway (MV) was pinned by Robert Martin (BE) in 1:48 in the pigtails.
189: Drew Bryant (LA) pinned Zach Gray (Mt.A) in the pigtails in 45 seconds. Bryant then lost to Sean Marrero (Mor) by pin in 3:48; beat Sean Turner (BE) in 1:37 and Mitchell Chesley (Gar) in 2:05 to advance to the consolation finals. Bryant placed fourth, forfeiting the match due to an injury.
215: Dylan Look (MV) beat Sean Cote by 7-1 decision in the pigtails, then lost to Mike Perez (Hy) and Aaron Mitchell (Mor) by decision. Nate Geoffrian (LA) lost to Chad Pien by fall in 2:40 in the pigtails.
285: Dalton Peaslee (LA) lost his first match to Gio Difazio (Fr) then worked his way through the consolation round to place third. Peaslee pinned Matt Cutting (Gar) in 2:18, and beat Chip Wolhstetter (Hy) by 6-4 decision to advance to the finals. Peaslee pinned Gabriel Delano (MV) in 1:51 for third. Delano (MV) pinned Matt Cutting (Gar) in 3:04, lost to DiFazio by fall in 2:34, and beat Steven Morse (Co) by 6-5 decision to advance to the consolation finals against Peaslee.
