Two Lincoln wrestlers, Adam St. Cyr and David Winchenbach, competed in the 2015 Phil Portuese North East Regional Freestyle tournament on May 2 and in the 2015 Phil Portuese North East Regional Greco tournament on May 3 as part of the Maine Trappers team. Both tournaments were held at the University of Pennsylvania in East Stroudsburg.
St. Cyr won both tournaments in the Bantam division at 55 pounds. By placing in the the top four he qualifies for the USA Freestyle and Greco national tournament to be held July 1-3 in Dell Wisconsin.
Regional Freestyle
St. Cyr won the 55-pound Bantam division on Saturday in the North East Regional Freestyle tournament. St. Cyr scored 21 team points. In round one, St. Cyr won by tech fall over Grace Roberts, in round two he pinned James Bialo, and in round three he beat IsBella Buttrick by tech fall.
David Winchenbach competed in the intermediate division at 70 pounds. Winchenbach lost by tech fall to Jacob Grzybeck and John Allen.
Regional Greco
St. Cyr won the Bantam 55-pound class at the Phil Portuese North East Regional Greco tournament on Sunday. He scored 14 team points.
In round one, St. Cyr beat James Bialo by tech fall, and in round two pinned IsBella Buttrick.
Winchebach drew a bye in the first round and was pinned by Joshua Strong in the second round.
