Nobleboro Village Store baseball team won the Lincoln County Little League championship at Beach Field in Pemaquid on Saturday. Colton Spear struck out 12 (3B,3H,5I) to lead Village Store to an 11-1 win over the American Legions. Nick Morton collected the save (1I,2B,1H,2K).
Nobleboro was the top seed with an 11-1 record with their only loss of the season coming to the Legions. The Legions finished 9-3.
Legion Bradley Cross spoiled the shutout when he walked, stole second base and scored on a Riley Cushing single in the fifth inning.
Matthew Tomasello took the loss (3 2/3I,6K,3B,6H,10R) and Baker Gove pitched in relief (1B,1R,1H,1K).
Nobleboro scored two runs in the 1st inning. Lead-off batter Brady Leeman reached on an error and Morton singled and scored on an error. They added four runs in the 3rd.
Ethan Spear walked, and Leeman hit a double to set up a two-run double to C. Spear, and RBI singles to Kobe Lincoln and Morton.
Village Store broke the game open with a five-run 4th inning. Thomas Riggins and Cody York walked. C. Spear drove in Riggins when he reached on an error. Lincoln hit a two-run single and scored on a throwing error.
Hitting for Nobleboro was Morton with a double and two singles, Lincoln two singles (3RBI), and Leeman and Spear a double each. Hitting for the Legions were Tomasello, Sean Sullivan, Alex Achorn and Riley Cushing with a single each.
