The Wildcats won the Waldoboro Little League championship on June 16 in dramatic fashion on the Clyde Sukeforth diamond. The fourth seed Tigers (3-12) gave the top seed Wildcats (10-1) all they could handle. The hot Tigers made the finals by upsetting the Bears and the Panthers.
The Wildcats took a 6-0 lead, but the Tigers scrambled back, tying the game 7-7 in the top of the 6th and final inning. Patrick White hit a lead off single for the Wildcats, but was thrown out at second by Tiger catcher Ollie Brown. Tiger pitcher Jackson Vail fanned the next batter. With two outs, Cortland Fisher hit a single and scored on a double to starting pitcher Tyler Emerson for the winning run.
Matty Moore collected the win (3H4B,4K), coming on in relief of starter Emerson in the fifth inning (11K,3B,1HP,2H,3R). Kyle Melanson (3B,2H,3R) got the start for the Tigers and Jackson Vail took the loss (7K,1B,3H).
The Wildcats scored three runs in the 1st inning. David Heron walked, went to third on passed balls and scored on an Emerson single. Emerson came home on a Moore triple, and Moore scored on a Spencer Weiss ground out. They added three runs in the bottom of the 2nd.
Gabe Cooley drew a lead off walk, Austin Turcot reached on an error, and both scored on passed balls. Emerson hit a double and scored on a Moore single.
The Tigers got one run back in the 3rd inning when Ethan Reed-Savon was hit by a pitch, stole second and scored on a Vail double. They scored a run in the 4th when Chris Hoch walked, went to third on a wild pitch and scored on a passed ball.
The Wildcats took a 7-2 lead in the 4th. Heron walked, moved over when Emerson reached on an error and scored on a passed ball.
The Tigers went to work in the top of the 5th, scoring three runs. R-Savon walked, and Vail singled to set up an RBI single to Brown. Vail and Brown scored on passed balls. The Tigers tied the score in the top of the 6th with two runs. B-Arnold and R-Savon walked, and Vail singled to load up the bases. Aaron Smeltzer hit an RBI single. R.Savon scored on a throwing error to knot the score at 7-7.
Hitting for the Wildcats were Emerson with two doubles and a single, Moore a triple and single, and White and Fisher a single each. Hitting for the Tigers were Vail with a double and three singles, and Brown a single.
