Wiscasset High School boys’ basketball team picked up their first win of the season Tuesday night, 61-53 over Lisbon. The Wolverines jumped out to an 18-9 1st quarter lead and led 34-27 at the half and 47-36 at the end of three.
Wiscasset built their lead to 16 in the 4th quarter, before the Greyhounds made it interesting down the stretch. Lisbon scored nine straight points to cut the lead to five with a minute and a half to go. Jordan Jones scored on a full court pass from Travis Padilla to put WHS up by seven.
Mason Smith settled a foul shot, and Jacob Bremmer scored for Lisbon to make it a four-point game with 45 seconds to go. Wiscasset was golden at the foul line in the final 30 seconds, making four straight from Jones and Padilla to ice the win.
Scoring for Wiscasset were Devin Grover 16, Jones 15 (4A), Padilla 7 (6R), Cory Hodgdon 6 (3S), Jason Weatherbee 6, Ed Stewart 4, Caleb Bryant 4 (9R), and Ben Sutter 3. Austin Haskell had three assists. Scoring for Lisbon were Bremmer 13, Derrick Lycert 11, Smith 9, Mason Haley 8, Brad Groh 6, and Tucker Brannen, Nick Collins and Kendal Roy 2 each.
