Wiscasset High School boys soccer team opened their 2013 MVC season with a scoreless double overtime tie with Carrabec in Wiscasset on Saturday.
“As young as we are, I was pleased with the tie. They have a senior defense and a senior goalie. They are strong and they stand strong,” coach Todd Souza said of the aggressive and physical Cobras.
Nate Mills made eight saves in net for Wiscasset, and Trent Richardson 15 saves in net for Carrabec. “He was all over the place. He is very good and very aggressive,” Souza said of the Carrabec keeper.
Souza praised Wolverine sweeper Mason Whitaker, saying, he “did a nice job organizing the defense.”
Souza said he was happy with the tie, especially considering he “started five freshmen. We dominated play, we just couldn’t finish,” Souza said.
