The State Golf Team Championships were blessed with warm weather and sunny skies Monday at Natanis Golf Course in Vassalboro. Wiscasset placed fourth in State Class C, and Lincoln Academy sixth in State Class B.
Jordan Jones was low medallist in Class C with a 77. He was one of two players (Deer Isle) who shot below 80. Jones shot 16 holes three under, and two holes eight over, coach Tim Flanagan said. Chandler Longfellow shot a 92, Alex Cromwell and Matt Craig shot 102, and Cass Carr a 108.
St. Dom’s won the State C title with a 327, followed by Fort Fairfield 355, Houlton 368 and Wiscasset 375. State C was played on the Arrowhead course.
Lincoln Academy placed sixth in State Class B with a team score of 352, on the Tomahawk course. York won the State B title with a team score of 322. Yarmouth was second with 338, and Presque Isle third with a 346.
The Eagles got off to a good start with Jalen Lincoln hitting for an eagle on his first hole, and Seward Matel shooting for a birdie on his first hole with a 30-foot putt.
Malcolm Oliver saved par on his second hole with a chip out of a sand trap and long putt. Oliver was low man for the Eagles with a 78. Lincoln shot an 89. Goran Johanson shot 91, Cody Graves 93 and Seward Matel a 96.
