Wiscasset Hosts District 4 Cal Ripken League Tournament

The Wiscasset Cal Ripken League hosted the 2010 District 4 U-12 and U-10 all-star tournament June 24-29. The U-12 (12 and under) was played at the Wiscasset Recreation field, and the U-10 (10 and under) was played at the Wiscasset High School softball field.

Hitting for Lisbon were Jonah Sautter with a triple, double and single, Noah Austin a triple and Kyle Bedell a single.Brunswick 12 – Boothbay 0Henry Doherty and Jeremiah Worster combined for a no-hit shutout for Brunswick. Austin Ward, Adam Warner and Jack Bates had two hits each for Brunswick, and Chris Roderick, Lincoln Sullivan and Aaron Gray one each.Wiscasset 11 – Bath 7Wiscasset stayed alive in the tournament with an 11-7 win over Bath. Grant Hefler and Conlon Ranta combined in the win. Hitting for Wiscasset were Hefler with three singles, Ranta a double and single, Tyler Martins, Noah Peaslee, Kierman Huggins two singles each, and Donald Drake, Andrew Hendrickson, Noah Jordan and James LaCavera a single each. Bath was led by Skylar Devlin with a homerun and three singles, Tyreik Foster a double and single, Parker Onorato two doubles and Conner Bennoch and Riley Lamarre two singles each.

Wiscasset 18 – Boothbay 2Wiscasset crushed Boothbay 18-2 in four innings in game eight of the tournament. Drake threw a two hitter in the win. Hitting for Wiscasset were Hefler, Goud and LaCavera with two singles each, Martin a double and Peaslee, Stewart, Ranta, Huggin, and Jordan a single each. Cameron Crocker had both hits for Boothbay.

Ararat 9 – Brunswick 5

Lisbon 10 – Wiscasset 8Lisbon took advantage of eight errors to beat Wiscasset 10-8 in the Division 4 semifinals to advance to the championship game against Brunswick. Tyler LaCascio collected the win and Ranta took the loss. Hitting for Wiscasset were Hefler, Peaslee, Jordan and Ranta with two each, and Goud and Stewart one each. Hitting for Lisbon were Noah Austin with two and Tyler LaCascio, Sautler and Mason Jefferies one each.

Bath 20 – Boothbay 0Bath beat Boothbay 20-0 in four innings. Dima Gosselin and Sam Betts had singles for Boothbay. Bath was led by Keegan McDonough with a homerun and two singles, Dakota Jacobs two doubles and a single, Ethan Winglass three doubles, Spencer Lindsey two doubles, and Tristan Kiffer two singles.

Brunswick 2 – Wiscasset 1Brunswick nipped Wiscasset 2-1 Friday night. Brunswick took a 1-0 lead in the 1st inning. Daren Wood tied the score on a close play at the plate in the 3rd inning after hitting a triple. Brunswick’s John Parker scored the game winner in the 6th when he singled and Will Bessey doubled. Hitting for Wiscasset were Wood with a triple and single, and Mike Stewart a single. Hitting for Brunswick were Parker with a double and single, Eric Kousky two singles, Bessey a double and Matt Brooks and Jack Murphy a single each.

Durham 7 – Ararat 4

Wiscasset 18 – Boothbay 0Wiscasset shut out Boothbay 18-0 in four innings on Saturday. Tyler Peaslee collected the no-hit win. Hitting for Wiscasset were Andrew LaCavera with two doubles, Wood, Stewart, and Peaslee with a double and single each, Grover two singles, Souza a double and Tyler Bailey and Ben Chadwick a single each.

Lisbon 6 – Wiscasset 3Lisbon eliminated Wiscasset from the tournament in game 10. Wiscasset led 3-1 after the 1st inning, but were unable to hold off Lisbon, who squirreled away two runs in the 2nd and one in each of the next three innings. Hitting for Wiscasset were Chadwick, Bailey, LaCavera and Stewart with a single each. Hitting for Lisbon were Ryley Austin with a triple, Troy Galarneau a double, and Kyle Bourget, RJ Sargent, Darren Ward and Fournier a single each.

Brunswick 2 – Ararat 1

Lisbon 5 – Bath 0Lisbon shut out Bath 5-0 to advance to the championship game against Brunswick.
