Wiscasset High School hosted their first cross country meet of the season on Sept. 22 with six teams in attendance. The Redskins started out with a full team of five runners, but injuries on the course, saw just three finish. Boothbay boys won the meet and Lisbon was second. Madison, Carrabec and Richmond also did not have enough runners to compile a team score.
Madison’s Matt McClintock won the race in 15:47, beating out Boothbay’s Chase Brown (16:14). Wiscasset was led by Ryan Urquhart in ninth place in 20:11. Kyle Shute was 21st in 22:29, and Matt Mills 25th in 24:02.
In the girls’ race, Lisbon was the only team with enough runners to score. Lisbon’s Meagan Thomas won the race in 21:15, beating out Boothbay’s Sophia Thayer (22:03). Morgan Dodge led Wiscasset with a fifth place finish in 24:10. Heidi Pinkham finished sixth in 24:24; Crysta Brown ninth in 26:47; and Alyssa Urquhart 21st in 33:36.
