Wiscasset JV Ends Lincoln’s 20 Plus Game Win Streak

Wiscasset JV handed the Eagles a 59-55 over-time loss in the nightcap of the Boothbay JV Classic Tuesday night. The loss was Lincoln Academy JV’s and coach Rand Maker’s first since the 2008-09 season and snapped a 20-plus game winning streak. The Eagles went 18-0 during the 2009-10 season.

The two teams battled every step of the way, with LA leading 13-10 at the quarter, trailing 24-23 at the half and leading 37-36 at the end of three. Caleb Farrin converted off the glass with three minutes to go in regulation to give the Eagles a five-point lead.

Casey Dalton pulled Wiscasset within three and James Andretta hit a three-pointer from the corner to tie the score with 1:53 to play. Wiscasset went up by two, before Bo McLain hit a shot to tie the game and force OT.

Seward Matel gave the Eagles the lead off McLain feed. Andretta tied the score off his own steal. Farrin scored on a pass from Tom Masters to once again put Lincoln ahead. Andretta hit a three and scored on a Ben Sutter steal and then netted a foul shot to give Wiscasset the lead for good.

Scoring for Wiscasset were Andretta 24, Austin Haskell 13, Dalton 8, Sutter 6, Eddie Stewart 6 and Zach Ellison 2. Scoring for Lincoln were Farrin 20, Matel 19, Luke Bibber 7, McLain 4, Israel Daiute 4 and Masters 1.

Wiscasset 45 – Monmouth 27Wiscasset defeated Monmouth 45-27 in their first game of the tournament Monday morning. Scoring for the Redskins were Dalton 9, John Rines 8, Haskell 8, Stewart 6, Andretta 5, Matthew Johnson 4, Chandler Longfellow 2, Alex Cromwell 2 and Sutter 1. Monmouth was led by Marc Houston 9, Goff 6, and Brett Wilson 5. Lincoln 38 – Dirigo 29After a slow first half, that saw the Eagles trail 7-10 and 14-16 at the quarter breaks, Lincoln rallied in the second half to beat Dirigo 38-29 in their first game of the tournament. Scoring for the Eagles were Matel 10, McLain 9, Farrin 8, Masters 6, Brandon Bonney 2 and Daiute 2. Dirigo was led by TJ Frost 12, Nick Blodgett 8 and Dylan Kidder 6. Lincoln 45 – Medomak 36Lincoln defeated Medomak JV 45-36, Dec. 18. The Panthers led 12-10 at the quarter and the Eagles 25-21 at the half. Lincoln out scored Medomak 11-5 in the third period to build a double-digit lead.
