Boothbay defeated Wiscasset 65-60 Tuesday night in Boothbay. The Seahawks jumped out to a 17-7 1st quarter lead and extended it to 18, 38-20 at the half. The Wolverines began their comeback in the 3rd, pulling within 14, 39-53 after three periods. Wiscasset out scored Boothbay 21-12 in the final frame to pull within striking distance.
“The kids just got up and played. They stopped thinking and just played. They played exceptionally well. They had an outstanding effort. They ran the offense and helped each other on defense. That was good to see,” coach Dana Lawrence said on Wiscasset’s rally.
Scoring for Wiscasset were freshman Travis Padilla 17 (6R), Jordan Jones 14, Devon Grover 9 (4A), Caleb Bryant 6 (5R), James Andretta 5, Ben Sutter 4, Jason Weatherbee 2 (5R,3A), and Corey Hodgdon 1. Scoring for Boothbay were Anthony DiMauro 19, B. Woodin 13, Ben Dickinson 8, John Hepburn 6, Jarin Cocco 3, A. Hallinan 3, L. Simmons 2 and B. Orne 1.
The quick and physical Mt. Valley squad led the entire game, 18-9 at the quarter, 32-19 at the half and 48-26 at the end of three. “We have a lot of work to do,” coach Dan Lawrence said. “I think the kids overall handled themselves with as much composure as they could. They were out skilled and out disciplined,” he added, of the Wolverines against the physically punishing Falcons.
