Wiscasset’s golf team shot a 347 on Wed., Oct. 5 at Natanis to place second in the MVC State Qualifier behind St. Dom’s (322). Both teams qualified for the State Class C tournament. Wiscasset beat out Winthrop by nine strokes to make the State meet.
Jordan Jones shot a 74 and placed second in the qualifier. Chandler Longfellow placed fifth with an 82. Both Jones and Longfellow qualified for the State Class C Individual championships to be held Sat., Oct. 15 at Natanis.
Four golfers shot sub-80 scores, including Jones (74). Seth Sweet, of Madison, was low medallist with a 72. Winthrop’s Tyler Foster shot a 74, and St. Dom’s Zack DeBlois a 76.
Matt Craig, who has averaged 55 for nine holes this season, shot a career low 91 on 18 holes. “He was the surprise of the day,” coach Tim Flanagan said. Tom Anderson shot a 100 and Alex Cromwell a 105.
