Stephen L. Genthner, 50, of Damariscotta, passed away unexpectedly on the afternoon of Dec. 31. He was born to Billie Hariff and Richard Genthner on Dec. 17, 1968 at St. Mary’s in Lewiston. He grew up and went to local schools in Lisbon.

As a writer and place-based educator, it moves me whenever I read about a teacher bringing community engagement to her curriculum. I found the writing to be engaging and informative.

LA to Host Eighth Grade Info Night Jan. 23

The Substance Use Prevention Partnership of Lincoln County is seeking new community members, including youths, to join the coalition. The next meeting is at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 15 at Lincoln Academy in Newcastle, in the blue room of the ATEC building. All community members are invited to attend this special meeting during which priorities for the upcoming year will be discussed.
Fresh Air Host Families Sought
Fresh Air summers are filled with children running through the sprinklers in the grass, gazing at star-filled skies, and swimming for the first time. This summer, one can join volunteer Fresh Air host families in the Midcoast region of Maine and open one’s heart and home to a Fresh Air child.
