Olde Bristol Days Vintage Car Show Adds Motorcycles
Organizers of the fourth annual Olde Bristol Days Vintage Car Show, on Saturday, Aug. 12 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Colonial Pemaquid State Historic Site as part of the Olde Bristol Days Celebration, are pleased to announce the addition of collectible and vintage motorcycles to this year’s show.
Lincoln Academy Board of Trustees Elects Four New Members
At its annual meeting July 18, the Lincoln Academy Board of Trustees welcomed four new members: two local residents, and two alumni who live in other cities but have strong ties to the Midcoast community. The four new board members are Betty Allen, of Newcastle; Paul Anderson, of Pemaquid; Judi Hilton, of Boston; and Chris Olson, of Chicago. Each new member will serve a three-year term, renewable for up to 12 years.
Burgers, Bikes & Rods to Benefit Kieve-Wavus Veterans Camp
The Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association announces the seventh annual benefit rally Burgers, Bikes & Rods to support Kieve-Wavus Veterans Camp on Saturday, July 29. The ride will begin at L-A Harley-Davidson in Lewiston and will run through Sabattus and Gardiner on Route 126. It will last approximately 1 1/2 hours before ending at Wavus Camps on Damariscotta Lake in Jefferson just before noon.
Rotary Summer Food for Kids Shed Launched
The Rotary Club of Damariscotta-Newcastle is launching a new summer effort to help feed hungry children in Lincoln County, the Rotary Summer Food for Kids shed. A shed opposite Supplies Unlimited on Business Route 1 in Damariscotta will be used by volunteers from the Rotary Club to distribute free food to children up to age 18 on a walk-in basis. Both food for immediate snacking and food to prepare at home will be supplied.
UMaine Student Changing Future of Lobster Industry
For Abby Shaughnessy, studying marine biology at the University of Maine was a natural choice. Drawn to the ocean from a young age, Shaughnessy, a senior in the university’s School of Marine Sciences, is spending her summer interning at the Darling Marine Center in Walpole.

LincolnHealth — Miles Campus Maternity Marks 20 Baby-Friendly Years
Twenty years ago, LincolnHealth became the first hospital in Maine and the fifth in the nation to be designated baby-friendly by the World Health Organization. To celebrate this achievement, the LincolnHealth — Miles Campus maternity staff will host a community ice cream social at Damariscotta River Association’s Darrows Barn in Damariscotta on Sunday, July 30 from 1-3 p.m.

The Pemaquid Beach Park snack bar is under new management due to the illness of the snack bar’s contract operator, Stuart Mason.
Maine Open Farm Day is July 23
More than 80 Maine farms will be open to the public on Sunday, July 23 for the 28th annual Open Farm Day. Open Farm Day is an opportunity for consumers to learn about Maine food producers and for farms to show the public their products. Participating farms are generally open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Bristol Lions Raffle Ticket Sales
The Bristol Area Lions Club will sell raffle tickets in front of Reilly’s Market in New Harbor every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. until the end of August. A drawing will take place on Labor Day at the Willing Workers Hall for a $250 gift card to L. L. Bean. Second prize will be a dozen lobsters from Shaw’s Fish & Lobster Wharf, and third prize will be a $50 gift certificate to The Anchor in Round Pond.
