Avery Hodous and Austin Pooler completed a graduation requirement for Lincoln Academy by completing a job-shadow requirement on Friday, May 6. They learned the different aspects of the lobstering profession. Their job-shadow training included trap maintenance and gear, and pot-buoy preparation, as well as a discussion regarding the lobstering industry and the ability to be a lobsterman. Major Cloutier of the Maine Department of Marine Resources marine patrol clarified the new legislation regarding the change in age limits as to the ability to participate in the Maine Lobster Apprenticeship Program.

Pirate Rendezvous Canceled for 2016, Plan in Works For 2017
The Damariscotta River Pirate Rendezvous, an annual event taking place in June for the past eight years, has been canceled for 2016, according to event director Greg Latimer. However, work is already underway for an improved and more sustainable event planned for June 2017.
Cemetery Repair in Nobleboro
The work of repairing and cleaning headstones in some cemeteries along West Neck Road, Bayview Road, Morgan Hill Road, East Neck Road (center end), Center Street, Snackerty Road, and Back Meadow Road is scheduled to begin in the near future. The exact timing of the work, to be done by Thomas Stevens Cemetery Restorations, of Newcastle, will depend on the weather and ground conditions.

State Flags to Be Flown at Half-Staff for Victims of Belgium Attacks
In honor of the victims of the attacks in Brussels, Belgium, Governor Paul R. LePage has directed State of Maine flags be lowered to half-staff beginning immediately until Saturday, March 26 at sunset. President Barack Obama also issued a proclamation in honor of the victims of the attacks in Belgium, directing all American flags be lowered to half-staff for the same length of time.
Fundraiser for Brody Wilson
