Despite the arrest of two Biddeford men in connection with a string of burglaries throughout the Midcoast region, there are no new developments in the break-ins at Hunter’s Breakfast and the Sea Basket Restaurant in Wiscasset, reported the morning of Sept. 23.
A local resident is helping to plan a memorial walk in Lincoln County to support pancreatic cancer research and raise awareness.
Wiscasset selectmen heard a second proposal involving drones at their Tuesday, Sept. 15 meeting, this time from a representative of the shellfish committee. The committee is investigating the use of drones to enforce the shellfish ordinance and prevent poachers from depleting a hard-fought-for resource in Wiscasset, Richard Forrest said to selectmen.

Maine State Police arrested two Biddeford men and are seeking a third man in connection to more than 25 burglaries at businesses this year, including in the midcoast.

Cheri Towle, current principal of Wiscasset Middle High School, accomplished a long-held career goal Monday, Sept. 14 when the Brewer School Committee voted unanimously to hire Towle as their next superintendent.
Staffing schedules, uniforms, and ambulance repairs were the focus of Wiscasset Ambulance Service interim Director Joseph McCole’s first meeting with the membership Tuesday, Sept. 8. After a whirlwind personnel change following former Director Roland Abbott’s resignation Sept. 1, which happened so fast McCole said he began work before even signing a contract, all eyes were directed toward the future.
Knox County law enforcement agencies, including the Knox County Sheriff’s Office and the Camden, Rockland, Rockport, and Thomaston police departments, are requesting the public’s help regarding burglaries at local businesses.
The Dresden Planning Board has fined a Ludwig Road gravel pit owner for violating a stop-work order, although the owner denies knowingly violating the order.
