Artist wants exhibit to questions the focus of the media
A new exhibit that opened at the Maine Art Gallery on July 25 is a collection of pieces in several media that the artist hopes will call attention to topics such as the focus of news coverage, weapons of mass destruction, and civil liberties.
Topsoil For Fields Originally Came From JVS Site
The contractor that installed the sports fields at the new Jefferson Village School said the topsoil used in the fields originally came from the school property, according to AOS 93 Superintendent Steve Bailey.

The First Announces Annual Customer Photo Contest Winners

Legislature Approves Commission To Study Unified Jail System
Col. Mark Westrum, Chairman of the Maine Board of Corrections updated the Lincoln County Commissioners, Tuesday morning, on lawmakers’ decision to appoint a state corrections commission. The purpose of the commission is to review the management of the state’s unified jail system, the cost associated in funding the system, and the authority of the BOC.
Two Sent to Hospital in Edgecomb Motorcycle Accident
Both a man operating a motorcycle and his female passenger were sent to the hospital for injuries when the bike crashed in Edgecomb the afternoon of Aug. 1, according to Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy Richard Woodward.
Business Closes, Another Opens In Wiscasset
The bad news is the Thai Golden Restaurant at 65 Gardner Rd., in Wiscasset has closed it doors after being open for less than a year.
The good news is that a new business opened July 22, in the former Tuxedo Junction building located at 424 Bath Rd.
Motorcyclists will be happy to hear the new business, Twisted Iron Customs, is owned by Michael Benner of Friendship. It is a unique business to the area, according to Darron Pierce, an employee.
Remembering Donald E. Davey
On each end of the bridge spanning over the Sheepscot River between Wiscasset and Edgecomb is a plaque, written on each of those plaques are the words “Donald E. Davey Bridge, in memory of Detective Sergeant Donald E, Davey, Lincoln County Deputy Sheriff who died while serving his county, 1947 – 1984.”

Highway Closure Expected on Bremen/Bristol Line
