A car slammed into a metal post next to a gas pump at the Big Apple on Rt. 1 in Waldoboro Sept. 13, narrowly missing a customer who was using the pump at the time.

AccidentsAug. 23, Around 8:45 p.m., Abden Simmons, 39, of Waldoboro, was towing a boat behind a northbound 2003 Ford pickup truck on the Atlantic Highway when he lost the boat off his trailer. The boat landed in the road where it was struck by Walter Kenyon, 77, of Saxtons Rive Vt. Kenyon’s 2005 Dodge van sustained $2500 damage. There were no injuries. Officer Thomas Bartunek investigated.

Creating a new and unprecedented partnership with the Cuckolds Fog Signal and Light Station, Hancock Lumber is donating all of the building materials for the Cuckolds restoration. This commitment has a retail market value of $150,000 – $200,000, but the value of the Hancock contribution is far beyond the “material.”

At separate meetings this week, the Waldoboro and Jefferson Boards of Selectmen both approved a management plan for the future of Rt. 32. The plan is the result of about six months of work by a committee comprising members of both towns, at the request of the Maine Dept. of Transportation.
