It should have said John Hourihan, 20 of Damariscotta was summonsed for two counts of class d forgery. The Damariscotta Police Department apologizes for the error.

As business manager for AOS 93, Adam Hanson oversees a $20 million budget encompassing five schools in seven towns. He helped the district weather the shift from the now-defunct Union 74 to the current AOS. He works with principals and custodians, teachers and contractors, school nurses and town clerks. Now, he’s leaving.

Despite opening the blue-backed herring fishery for the first time in six years, Waldoboro did not receive any applications for blue-backed herring harvest licenses this year. Town officials are concerned that lack of harvest may lead to a complete closure of the fishery in the coming years.

Maine Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap announces the Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV), as part of a new cost saving measure, will change the manner in which it notifies Maine driver license holders when it is time to renew their licenses.

Travis Crowley, 28, of Dresden, trafficking in prison contraband, 18 months in jail, all suspended, two years probation. A joint investigation found that Crowley was going to drop off 30 Suboxone tablets to a site in Friendship where a Maine State Prison inmate was working as a trustee. The inmate was then going to smuggle the pills into the prison and re-sell. Investigators and agents found the pills hidden before the inmate obtained them. Both subjects were arrested after the seizure of the pills.
