Breaking News – Roads Flooded, Many Areas Without Power in Wake of Wind and Rain Storm
A deluge of rainfall followed by howling winds blasted through Lincoln County Thurs., leaving a wake of flooded roads and downed wires. A total of 15 Lincoln County towns were reporting power outages affecting over 700 homes, according to Central Maine Power (CMP). A check of roads affected by the blackouts town by town was too long to publish, but indicated that power outages were affecting numerous roads in the 15 towns.

After a 14-word final round, Hunter Herron, an eighth-grader at Bristol Consolidated School, won the Lincoln County Spelling Bee at Jefferson Village School on Feb. 8.
Westport Island To Borrow $500,000
Westport Island selectmen authorized the board chairman and treasurer to obtain a $500,000 loan to the town during their Feb. 8 meeting and agreed to stay in contact with the budget committee to streamline the budget process this fiscal year.
