Sheriff Todd Brackett reports the following:
On May 10, Deputy Matthew Day took a report of a theft in the Nobleboro area. The complainant stated that sometime since Oct. 2009, someone stole his 100 lb. Amerigas propane tank from the side of his cottage. The approximate replacement value is $350. At this time, there are no suspects.

In celebration of National Emergency Medical Services Week, the Jefferson Fire Department held an open house with activities and information about child safety on May 16 at the Jefferson Fire Station.
Wendy Pieh Giving Up Legislative Seat
State Rep. Wendy Pieh (D-Bremen) announced earlier this year she will not seek reelection.
“It was a difficult, personal decision,” Pieh said. “With everything I’m balancing, something had to give.”

A trio of local residents appeared before the Great Salt Bay Sanitary District Board of Trustees May 12 to express concerns over the Sanitary District’s practice of adding fluoride to the public water system that serves 1650 customers in Newcastle, Damariscotta and Damariscotta Mills.

Local Update – Steeple Work Underway At Damariscotta Baptist Church
At the Damariscotta Baptist Church, steeple restoration workers, with help from a huge crane, carefully lift the huge pre-cut timbers as they assemble the frame for the clock box on which the refurbished steeple will sit.
