A man wanted by the Waldoboro Police Dept. turned himself in to the Knox Sheriffs Office Monday. Knox County Sheriff’s Deputy John Palmer took in Christopher Benner, 34, into custody without incident around 10:30 a.m.

A Knox County Bail Commissioner set Benner’s bail at $75,000 surety or $5000 cash.

A former Great Salt Bay School 4th grade teacher has admitted he had improper contact with a trio of his students and pleaded for help from officials.

A 4th grade teacher at Great Salt Bay School in Damariscotta resigned Thursday after he was arrested on charges he touched three female students in an inappropriate manner.

The Waldoboro Police Dept. is asking for the public’s help locating a local man wanted on a charge of aggravated assault.

After investigating several leads from the community, police obtained a warrant for the arrest of Christopher Benner, 34. The charge stems from an assault on a 63-year-old Nobleboro man in the parking lot of the Hannaford Brothers Supermarket in Waldoboro Jan. 19.

Soaking rains and high winds from recent storms caused as much as $48,000 in damages to roads and equipment belonging to the Great Salt Bay Sanitary District.

LeeAnna Hutchins, the Sanitary District’s wastewater manager, said the major item on the damage list was repairs to 1200 feet of road leading to the district’s water supply and pumping station at Little Pond.

The Central Maine Power Co., (CMP) was making progress restoring electrical power to Lincoln County, until another storm hit Sunday night through Monday morning, bringing on 1973 new power outages as of 11:30 a.m., according to the CMP.
