The board of directors of The First Bancorp (NASDAQ: FNLC) has declared a quarterly dividend of 19.5 cents per share. This second-quarter dividend, which is payable July 31 to shareholders of record as of July 6, represents an increase of 2.6 percent or 0.5 cent per share over the second-quarter dividend declared in 2008 of 19.0 cents per share and is equal to the 19.5 cents per share declared in the previous three quarters.
More Than 400,000 Alewives Returned In 2009
The restored fish ladder at Damariscotta Mills welcomed more than 400,000 plus alewives during their annual spawning run this spring.
While the official count was 382,000, counters ceased their work two weeks ago. However, the fish roared back in and ran for another five days and the ladder was full, according to Nobleboro Fish Warden Stan Waltz.

Grand Jury Delivers Criminal Indictments
A Lincoln County grand jury handed down numerous criminal indictments last month, including several for trafficking in prison contraband.
Paul Griffin, 37, of Waldoboro was indicted on class C counts of unlawful possession of schedule w drugs (hydrocodone) and acquiring drugs by deception April 5 in Waldoboro.
Damariscotta Selectman Resigns
Damariscotta Selectman Ed Stelzer, a retired marine architect and businessman, resigned from the board Tuesday.
“I just have not felt good lately. I have been doing too much,” he said.
In his official resignation letter to town officials, Stelzer cited ill health as the reason for his action.
Westport Voters Approve $304,778 Budget
Westport voters quickly approved the big dollar items and hashed over the small ones as they approved a $304,778 budget at their annual town meeting Saturday.
They still managed to keep their 2009-2010 municipal budget under the state property tax cape.

Brackett Convicted Of Seven Charges
