At 6:03 p.m. the National Weather Service (NWS) issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for many areas of Lincoln County. A “Warning” means that hazardous weather is imminent. Waldoboro, Damariscotta Lake State Park in Jefferson, and Damariscotta are specifically mentioned in the warning. Thunderstorms approaching from the northwest often follow the lake surface south to the Damariscotta area. As of 6:03 p.m. radar images monitored on intellicast.com indicated a line of thunderstorms approaching Lincoln County from the northwest from the area of Interstate 95.
Large hail, frequent lightning, high winds up to 60 mph and heavy rain have been associated with these storms.

Firefighters Contain Structure Fire On Heron Island
A passing fisherman reported a structure fire on the west side of South Bristol’s Inner Heron Island around 10:15 this morning. About 20 firefighters from Bristol and South Bristol responded to the call, and had the fire largely under control by 11:40 a.m.

Edgecomb Firefighter Injured In Newcastle Accident
A five-year veteran of the Edgecomb Fire Department was injured early Friday morning while on route to a Nobleboro house fire that left the home destroyed and the firefighter at Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta.
