The Thompson Ice House will hold its annual ice cream social in South Bristol from 1-4 p.m., Sunday, July 1.
Free Guided Tours of St. Patrick’s on July 1
St. Patrick’s Catholic Church is the oldest continuously used Catholic church east of the Mississippi River, the first church in the United States to be named for St. Patrick, and houses both the altar of Bishop Cheverus and a bell cast by Paul Revere. But each corner and adornment of the elegant red brick sanctuary that is the old St. Patrick Church in Newcastle has a story. Now, community members are invited to hear them all.
Wicked Scoops to Host ‘Meet a Police Officer’
Damariscotta Police Department Chief Jason Warlick and fellow officers will be present to meet children, discuss public safety, and see a local police car on Saturday, June 30 from noon-2 p.m. at Wicked Scoops, 95 Main St., Damariscotta at its “Meet a Police Officer” event.
Beano at Washington Schoolhouse
On Thursday, June 28, the Round Pond Schoolhouse Association will host its first Old-Fashioned Beano Night of the season at the historic Washington Schoolhouse in Round Pond.
Brats ’n’ Brews in Waldoboro
The Waldoboro Public Library is gearing up for the second annual Brats ’n’ Brews tasting event, together with a live auction, at the VFW Hall on Mill St. in Waldoboro on Saturday, July 7. The tasting event will be from 3-6:30 p.m. and will feature local brews from Odd Alewives Farm Brewery, Liberty Craft Brewing, Oxbow Brewing Co., and Threshers Brewing Co.
Stackhouse’s Send a Kid to Camp Event is July 3
Stackhouse Landscaping will host its annual hot-dog-eating contest on Tuesday, July 3 in support of the Central Lincoln County YMCA’s Send a Kid to Camp fund. The event includes music, a dunk tank, a kids pie-eating contest, a paintball shootout, and more, but the grand finale is the much-anticipated hot-dog-eating contest.
Lincoln County Publishing Co. Open House June 27
Next week Lincoln County Publishing Co. will welcome the community for a firsthand look at how The Lincoln County News gets printed during an open house the evening of Wednesday, June 27. The event is free to attend and open to all.
‘Barbecue and Blues’ at Pownalborough Court House
“Barbecue and Blues” is the theme for this year’s Kermess, the annual fundraising party to support the mission of Lincoln County Historical Association. The July 22 event on the grounds of the handsome pre-Revolutionary Pownalborough Court House in Dresden includes dinner, an auction, and toe-tapping entertainment by Maine’s energetic blues band Matt and the Barnburners, starting at 5 p.m.
Old Bristol Historical Society to Show Old Photos
The Old Bristol Historical Society will be kicking off its summer talk series Sunday, June 24, at 7 p.m. at the Bristol Mills Congregational Church, with a slide show presentation of images taken from the society’s archives. Titled “Down Memory Lane,” the show will be hosted by co-presidents Belinda Osier and Chuck Rand, and will include historical images of people, activities, and of each of Bristol’s villages.
Dinner and Auction for MVHS Boys Basketball
A dinner and auction will be held Saturday, June 16 to raise funds for the Medomak Valley High School boys basketball team.
Bradley Inn to Host Rusty Rogers Tribute
The Bradley Inn in New Harbor will host a tribute to Rusty Rogers, “The Pemaquid Cowboy,” with live music Saturday, June 16. The event will start at 6:30 p.m.
Jefferson Scoop to Hold Benefit for Fire Department
Jefferson Scoop owner Joe Holland will hold a fundraiser for the Jefferson Fire Department on Saturday, June 23. “All proceeds will be donated to the fire department,” Holland said. The event will be held from noon to closing time at 9 p.m. at the Route 32 ice cream stand.
Bunker Hill’s 50th Annual Strawberry Festival
The Bunker Hill community’s 50th annual Strawberry Festival will take place Sunday, July 1 from 4-6 p.m. There will be strawberry shortcake with homemade biscuits, real whipped cream, and Round Top vanilla ice cream. That is how the Bunker Hill community has made its delicious strawberry shortcakes and sundaes for the past 50 years. Members of the public are invited to come and help celebrate the golden anniversary of this event.
