Registration is Open for Mudathlon Trail Race
Join Midcoast Conservancy and Teens To Trails for the Midcoast Mudathlon on Sunday, April 15 at Hidden Valley Nature Center, 131 Egypt Road, Jefferson. This fun-first event will include trail running and air rifle target shooting; all participants will receive a safety training on the rifles before they race. Members of Trail Monster Running will be on hand to participate and support new trail-running enthusiasts.
Fundraisers for Philip Peabody after Storm-Related Accident
Three weeks ago, after a stormy night, Philip Peabody, of Jefferson, was critically injured when he rolled his truck several times. He managed to climb out of his truck and up an embankment to get to the road, where he was found by a passerby. That person called the accident in and, in doing so, saved Peabody’s life. Peabody has a long road ahead of him, though, to overcome the brain trauma this accident caused.

When mindfully engaged with technology like computers and smartphones, people have incredible access to information and one another. However, when not approached with discipline, they can snap up one’s attention and have a negative impact on well-being. Young people can be especially susceptible to the draw of mobile technology.
St. Pat’s Dinner in Wiscasset
The First Congregational Church of Wiscasset, at 28 High St. in Wiscasset, will hold a St. Patrick’s dinner on Saturday, March 17 from 5:30-7 p.m., featuring traditional boiled corned beef and cabbage, shepherd’s pie, vegetarian shepherd’s pie, Irish soda bread, and dessert.
Great Salt Bay Barn Dance is March 17
People are invited to participate in some good old-fashioned fun at the Great Salt Bay Barn Dance on Saturday, March 17 from 6:30-8 p.m. in the Great Salt Bay Community School gym. Barn-dancing/contra-dancing is a wonderful social activity for all ages and is a tradition that has been part of Maine culture since colonial times. It’s also a fun way to get some exercise.
Easter Egg Hunt at CLC YMCA Child Care
The CLC YMCA’s Child Care is welcoming spring and the Easter season with a pancake breakfast and egg hunt on Saturday, March 24 at 9 a.m. Infants and kids up to age 10 will have an opportunity to visit with the Easter Bunny and enjoy an Easter egg hunt, while parents can take photos and partake in the festivities. The CLC YMCA Child Care Center is located at 8 Sand Hill Road in Nobleboro.

The Waldoboro United Methodist Church, at 85 Friendship St. in Waldoboro, and the Broad Bay United Congregational Church of Christ are sponsoring a free community luncheon at the Waldoboro United Methodist Church in its vestry at noon, Thursday, March 15.

Lincoln County Yard Sale Scheduled for May 5
After a bitterly long and cold winter, it is time to start spring cleaning. What better way to clean the house, garage, basement, or attic than to convert some of that clutter into cash? To kick off the yard sale season right and bring the community together, Lincoln County Publishing Co. is teaming up with the Central Lincoln County YMCA to host the Lincoln County Yard Sale, a huge indoor yard sale, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 5. This event will take place in the CLC YMCA gym and admission is free.
‘Mini Roots’ Camp at Hidden Valley Nature Center
Hearty Roots will be offering its first-ever “Mini Roots” session for boys and girls ages 7-9 at Hidden Valley Nature Center, 131 Egypt Road, Jefferson. The camp will run from 9 a.m. on Friday, March 16 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 17. Campers will spend the night in one of the cabins at Midcoast Conservancy’s Hidden Valley Nature Center, a 1,000-acre preserve with nearly 30 miles of trails and frontage on Little Dyer Pond.
