Enough already with all the rain!
What’s at The Waldo?
Spring is in the air, and the colors are spectacular! The lilacs, rhodies, and irises have made every stroll along Main Street a sensory delight. Though our own landscaping is a work in progress, we send thanks to Moose Crossing for its generous donation of flowers, and Laura Cabot Catering for planting them. Their beauty is enhanced by the colorful flags and ribbons adorning many village homes and businesses in honor of Pride month.

The Midcoast has drawn tradesmen and industry because of its natural resources, but, for artists, there is an intangible quality to what exactly makes this coast so alluring.
Henry, A Dogs Life in Maine
Greetings, friends. Well, she’s gone and done it. Mom picked up a pumpkin plant from Pinkham’s Plantation. Apparently, this plant is a seedling from a 2,000-plus-pound pumpkin. Yup, 2,000 pounds of Halloween glory. Mom says we are more than halfway to October. This makes her very happy. I will keep you posted on how it goes.
In Nature ‘Coon (and Cat and Birds)
The only animal who would accomplish such a mess on my front doorstep is a raccoon. I suppose he was after earthworms or other tasty invertebrate dainties. Knowing ‘coons, I wonder if it was just a lot of fun to dig in soft dirt and turn over plant pots.

I started off this article with great news for all the Maine bird lovers and watchers. One nest of blue birds has hatched and has left their bird house. My son and his wife gave me a blue bird feeder two years ago. It is a wooden framed open box about one square foot one inch wire frame keeps the larger birds out of the box and from eating the dry meal worms which I feed the blue birds.

Bringing Food Home Farmers' Markets are Open!
It is hard to believe that we had a frost warning a mere two weeks ago. Judging by the fragrant lilacs and tremendous tree blossoms, you’d think we had temperatures in the seventies for over a month. Luckily, our local farmers were prepared for those temperature swings, and have a lot of fresh spring produce to share with you.
