Teaching is an admirable profession and good ones are always needed. At University College at Rockland, one can attain full teacher certification in the areas of birth to age 5, kindergarten through third grade, elementary, secondary, and special education.

This winter’s varied offerings at Coastal Senior College range from historical architectural studies to current thinking on finding solutions to Maine’s addiction crisis. Classes meet during the day and are taught by instructors passionate about their subject matter.

The Upward Bound program is accepting applications from Medomak Valley High School. Information sessions about the free program and how to apply will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 20 at the high school. An assembly will take place at 12:20 p.m. for MVHS freshmen and sophomores.

Monday, Nov. 27: School resumes; book fair begins

Parents can join the Great Salt Bay Community School PTO on Thursday, Oct. 5 at the first regular GSB PTO meeting of the school year. The meeting will start at 6 p.m. in John Cannon’s room at the school, located at 559 Main St. in Damariscotta.

Picture day will be Thursday, Sept. 21. Orders can be brought to the photographer or placed online.

We have a new student/family handbook. A copy is being sent home with all students and we would appreciate if families would return the signature page at the back of the handbook to the school acknowledging that one has received and read it. The handbook is always available on the website under the “Students/Parents” tab or by request from the office if one would like a paper copy.
