As we begin a new school year, I’d like to take a moment to thank families for helping us have a successful start to school. The Miller staff and I appreciate that you are getting your children here by 8:45 a.m. ready to learn, and waiting until 3:15 p.m. to dismiss them. This allows your child to have the maximum time for learning.

Bus transportation to Nobleboro Central School is provided for students residing in Nobleboro. Times are subject to change, depending on ridership and/or weather. Please allow extra time before and after an estimated stop, particularly during the first two weeks of school.

Lincoln Academy to Host Second Annual LA Town Hall Sept. 20

On Wednesday, Sept. 20 at 7:30 p.m., Lincoln Academy, at 81 Academy Hill Road in Newcastle, will host its second annual LA Town Hall meeting in the Parker B. Poe Theater. Community members, parents, alumni, neighbors, and anyone curious about what is going on at the school are invited to attend.

RSU 40 Bus Routes

RSU 40 Transportation Director George Bridges is pleased to announce the bus routes for the 2017-2018 school year. Monday, Aug. 28 is the first day for grades one through nine, and Tuesday, Aug. 29 will be the first day for grades 10-12. For pre-K and kindergarten students, Tuesday, Sept. 5 will be the first day of school.

GSB Bike Rodeo Promotes Bicycle Safety

Great Salt Bay Community School’s annual Bike Rodeo took place Wednesday, May 24, with bike giveaways, fun activities, and safety education. With the help of local businesses, the school’s bus drivers, who organize and raise funds for the event, highlighted the importance of proper bike safety.

Zaidi Graduates from Colby College

at

Izzy Zaidi, of Newcastle, graduated from Colby College in Waterville on Sunday, May 21 with a bachelor’s degree in sociology. Former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden was the commencement speaker at the graduation ceremony.
