Morse’s Collin McCarthy settled a first half penalty kick to lift Morse to a 1-0 win over Lincoln Academy on September 6 in boys soccer action in Newcastle. The Shipbuilder keeper, Alex Fernald, had an exceptional night in net with 21 saves to earn the shutout.

Morse girls soccer team robbed the Eagles nest September 6 for a 3-1 win. Emily Martin gave the Shipbuilders a 1-0 lead, before Anna Hatch converted a Chelsea Williams pass to tie the game by the half. Morse scored two second half goals from Ella Martin and Mailah Albertson to win.

Medomak Valley girls soccer team defeated Mt.View 1-0 in Panther territory on Sept. 6. Hannah Prock collected a through pass from Abby Nelson with five minutes to play for the game winner.

Lincoln Academy girls soccer team opened their season with a 7-1 win over Belfast on Sept. 2 in Newcastle. Five of the Lady Eagles goals came from freshmen, led by Tatum Hancock with three, and Chelsea Willians two.
Oceanside girls defeat Medomak in season opener Oceanside 6 - Medomak 1
Oceanside girls soccer opened their KVAC season with a 6-1 win over Medomak Valley in Thomaston on Sept. 2. Aubrey Schaffer spoiled the shutout with a goal with f:35 to play. Scoring for the Lady Mariners were Kelsey Brooks and Straka with two each and Boynton and Jones one each.

Medomak boys soccer team defended their home turf on Sept. 2 for a 2-0 win over Oceanside in their KVAC opener. After 58 scoreless minutes, Joey Horovitz converted a cross from Wyatt Post to break the stalemate. Zidane McMurrin made it 2-0 on a through pass from Cameron Hopkins five minutes later
Erskine Academy Defeats Lincoln in KVAC Golf Opener
Erskine 7.5 – Lincoln 1.5 Erskine Academy won the battle of the Eagles at Natanis on Monday, 7.5-1.5 in Lincoln Academy golf’s season opener. Erskine shot a team total of 160 and Lincoln 228. Lincoln Cross-Country Rock-Solid in Medomak 2-Miler
The Lincoln Academy boys cross-country team proved they will be tough to beat this fall at the Medomak 2-Miler on Aug. 17. The Eagles placed five scoring runners in the top nine out of a field of 59 runners. Although no official team score was kept, Lincoln Academy scored a 20, to beat out Camden 47 and Waterville 49.
Low Turnout, Safety Concerns Prompt Boothbay Football Program to Drop to Club Status
Practice resumed Monday, Aug. 22 for the Boothbay Region High School football team, a proud program with five state championships to its credit and a regional crown just nine years ago.
Flint Queen of the Crates
Nine-year-old Scarlett Flint is a three-time queen of the crates at the Rockland Lobster Festival lobster crate races. Flint, who will be a third-grader at Union Elementary School this fall, is the daughter of Sarah (Norwood) and Jeremy Flint, the granddaughter for Laurie and David Norwood, of South Bristol, and the great-granddaughter of Katherine Norwood, of South Bristol.
Low Numbers for Jefferson 5K
Less than 10 people came out to support Troop 216 Boy Scouts in their annual Jefferson 5K fundraiser. Five runners and four walkers participated in what used to be the troop’s largest fundraiser. Proceeds from the race help purchase Scout badges and help Scouts go on outdoor and camping outings.
Eagles Have Large Turnout for Cross-Country, Return Top Veterans
The Lincoln Academy cross-country teams swelled to 35 members this fall. The boys team returns six of their top seven runners, including state qualifier sophomore Sam Russ. The girls return a strong contingent, including top daler Emma Allen.
