Andy Saunders is the kind of boss that everyone wants. Why? He shows people how the job is done and never hovers over anyone’s shoulder, as seen last Saturday night, July 30 when he dominated the Boss Hogg 100 with more than a five-second lead. Driving the #01 from Ellsworth, Saunders is doing more than just leading by example in the Prostocks. He also leads the division’s points this season, with three feature wins and three other top-five finishes.

On Monday, July 25, the Wawenock Ladies’ Evening League hosted its annual men’s night. Members of the league invited spouses, significant others, and male friends to join them in a game of alternate shot.

The Jefferson Sports Association soccer season will start the last week in August. A coed kingergarten-first grade level coach is needed.

Registration for the Tour de Farms XVII bicycle ride is now open. The event, hosted by The Morris Farm in Wiscasset, celebrates the land, the farms, and the people that provide local produce to the region. The ride will take place on Saturday Sept. 10, beginning and ending at The Morris Farm, and is for riders of all ages and abilities. A choice of tours — 17, 45, or 65 miles — will wind through the scenic farmland of Midcoast Maine.

Lewiston 11&12 Little League baseball all-stars defeated Medomak Valley 9-3 on July 26 in Orrington to eliminate Medomak from the state tournament.

The 12th annual Westport Island Shore Run 10K road race and fun walk will take place on Sunday, Aug. 14. The race will be held on a USA Track & Field-certified course through scenic pine and fir forests and over two bridges spanning inlets to Heal Cove and Montsweag Bay.

The Medomak Valley 10&11 Little League baseball all-stars won the District 2 championship July 23. Medomak won the first game of the best-of-three series and Oceanside the second to force a third game for the D2 title and a trip to the state tournament in Augusta. Medomak got their bats going in the third and deciding game to beat Oceanside 8-2 and advance to the states.

Midcoast Conservancy and Strong Arm Racing teamed up to offer the first annual Maine Summer Adventure Race on Saturday, July 23 at Hidden Valley Nature Center in Jefferson. Teams and individuals, using only a map, compass, and orienteering skills, ran, biked and paddled a course through Jefferson, Whitefield, Alna, and Dresden.
