Thirteen runners and 33 walkers participated in the Dustin Osier Memorial 5K on Saturday to help raise $1,300 for the scholarship fund in Osier’s name. Osier died tragically in an automobile accident in August 2011.
Niagara Falls Legend Still Playing Basketball at 81
Tom Justice, 81, of Jefferson, has been playing basketball on and off for 71 years. He moved to Maine nine years ago and started playing pickup basketball games at the CLC YMCA in Damariscotta.
Reed’s Running Streak Hits 40 Years
Every day for the past 40 years, Dr. Stephen D. Reed, of Wiscasset, has laced up his running shoes and gone on a 3-mile run. Reed reached the 40-year milestone Thursday, June 16. His streak is the ninth-longest of its kind in the world, and is at the top of the charts for Maine.

The Summer Run for Fun starts on June 22 at Medomak Valley High School in Waldoboro.
Ultimate Frisbee Tournament
Lincoln Academy will be hosting an Ultimate Frisbee Round Robin Tournament on July 24 to raise funds to purchase four AED’s. The tournament will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the turf field. The rain date is July 31. The cost is $150 per team. Teams can consist of 10-20 players, but only seven players can be on the field at one time. The minimum age is 14. All proceeds will go to the Lincoln Academy AED Fund for the purchase and maintenance of LA’s AEDs on campus.
Hornets Sting Lady Eagles
Leavitt defeated Lincoln Academy softball 4-1 on June 8 in a South Class B preliminary game. The game was scoreless until the fourth inning when the Hornets scored three.
Winslow Advances to Regional Finals with Win Over Medomak
Winslow softball defeated Medomak 5-2 on Saturday, June 11 to advance to the North Class B finals. Hillary Libby struck out 10 in the win (4B,4H).

Steve Reed Runs 27th Straight Boston Marathon
Dr. Stephen Reed, 68, of Wiscasset, completed his 27th straight Boston Marathon on Patriot’s Day to keep his streak in Beantown alive.
Wawenock to Introduce ‘Tai Tee Golf’ to Maine
Wawenock Golf Club in Walpole will begin offering “tai tee golf” lessons April 27. The five-week session will be taught by master John Jenkins and Wawenock head golf professional R.J. Ochs. The workshop will be the first of its kind in Maine.
Benefit Basketball Game Raises $4,000
A benefit basketball tournament held on Sunday, April 3 at Medomak Middle School in Waldoboro raised $4,000 for the family of Christina “Tina” Torres-York, who died in a tragic automobile accident on March 18 in Washington.
