Medomak Valley 1998 graduate Zak Wielmus is featured in an upcoming film to be aired at Lincoln Theater in Damariscotta on Aug. 7 at 7 p.m. He grew up in Friendship, and is the son of Sue and Bob Wielmus of Waldoboro.
12-Year-Old Racer Tears up the Track With MX 207 Victory
Twelve-year-old Zachary Farrin of Round Pond tore up the track last weekend to become the overall winner in the 85cc division of the MX 207 in Lyman. He also placed second overall in the Junior Mini division.
District Champion Medomak 9 & 10 Drops Two in State Tournament
Cape Elizabeth defeated Medomak 24-7 in their first game of the state 9&10 Little League softball tournament, held on Foster Field in Waldoboro on Sunday. Biddeford defeated Medomak 9&10 softball all-stars 21-4 by four inning mercy ruling Sunday night to eliminate them from the state Little League playoffs.
Wiscasset Baseball Upsets Number One Seed Richmond, Advances to Regional Finals
Fourth ranked Wiscasset High School baseball team crushed number one seed Richmond, 9-3 on Saturday to advance to the West Class D Regional finals against Buckfield. The championship game is Wednesday, June 18 at 3 p.m. at St. Joseph College in Standish.

Lincoln Academy went with their bread and butter pitcher A.J. Oliver, and he delivered a one hit 11-1 six inning mercy ruling win over Oak Hill in the West Class B Regional semi-finals. Oliver struck out nine, and walked two.
Organ and Eagles 4×800 Relay Run to KVAC Titles
Lincoln Academy’s 4×800 relay successfully defended their KVAC title on May 31 in Bath. The Eagles won in dramatic fashion, shattering the school record by close to 10 seconds, in a time of 8:34.67. Running a leg on the relay were seniors Nick Smelcer, Seward Matel, and Julian Frink, and junior Alex Organ.

Wiscasset baseball defeated Richmond 9-3 on Saturday to advance to the West Class D championship.
Crocker and Thayer Take First at MVC Championships
Morgan Crocker won three events and Sophia Thayer two at the Mt. Valley Conference championships on May 29 at Cony High School in Augusta. Crocker won the 100 hurdles in 17.29, the 300 hurdles in 50.9 and the triple jump (34’5.5″) and placed second in the long jump (15′.5″). Thayer won both distance races, the 1600 in 5:43 and the 3200 in 12.40.

Richmond and McAtee High Scorers of Busline League Track Championships
Jefferson’s Olivia Richmond was the high scorer for the girls at the Busline League track and field championships, held at Camden Hills on May. 28. Richmond won two events and placed in two others to score 34 points.
