The weather cooperated on Sept. 5 in the 14th annual Damariscotta-Newcastle Lions Club and Rotary Club Golf Tournament. The tournament was a major fundraiser for both clubs.

Jefferson’s legendary baseball player, Don Bowman, will be inducted into the Midcoast Sportsman’s Hall of Fame posthumously, at the Rockland Elks Club on Oct. 17. The ceremony will take place at 5 p.m.
The 475-acre West Branch Preserve, owned by Damariscotta Lake Watershed Association, borders 5000 feet of the West Branch Stream, which flows into Damariscotta Lake, by way of the Davis Stream.
The Damariscotta Lake Watershed Association acquired the 230-acre West Branch Preserve in Somerville in 2006. The parcel connects with West Branch, Jefferson to form the 470-acre West Branch Preserve.
The Westport Island Shore Run 10K Road Race will be held on Sun., Aug. 23 at 9 a.m. The race starts at the old Town Hall on the Main Road (Rt. 144) and is on USATF certified course through scenic pines and fire tree forests, over two bridges spanning inlets to Heal Cove and Montsweag Bay.
